This chapter details the framework that guides the discussions throughout the rest of the book. The Magic Formula of 6 provides a systematic basis for approaching issues, centring on questions inspired by six great thinkers: Albert Einstein, Socrates, Sigmund Freud, the Dalai Lama, Austrian-American propaganda-expert Edward Bernays and entrepreneur and industrialist Henry Ford. It is aimed at ensuring that the right inquiries are made about the problems that are tackled in the subsequent chapters. It is also suggested for use in systems for endowing AI with a suitable system of ethics to ensure it avoids causing harm to human beings.
